I would love to hear their voices more. However, I wish this performance leaned more heavily into its choir-like introduction. I hope theyll show more diverse stages than the RTK groups especially considering how good the cast is, stomp stomps and vigorous arm movements 5. Thats just a loud version of boring.. Anyway, this is the master plan of the injured Younghoon, who couldnt participate in the last two Kingdom rounds. It aired from April 1, 2021 to June 3, 2021. Stray Kids 4th place: iKON 1,695.402 points (862.069 + 833.333) BTOB was good, but I also wanted them to lean into the choir arrangement more. I dont think live singing is by definition superior. 1st place: Stray Kids 690,971 votes The Boyz Personally, I feel like girl groups wind up being a bit more pigeonholed to their sounds and concept, so Queendom was a fantastic way of seeing them tackle something new, adapt another song to their own style, or showing off the talents of individual members that rarely get that opportunity in their own comebacks. Explosively. Plus, the songs pretty good! This show was presented by TVXQ. This show is organized in South Korea. Finally, TVXQ enter as hosts. Sadly iKON came last, just because of some knetz and their hate for YGE for no apparant reason. Every day is blursday. I just cant get into this song. It flowed well and was the most fun. Im not sure many of the performances tonight will have the same longevity. Perhaps I am biased, but I must say BTOBs performance really stands out from the rest. Im happy as a Stay and the image of shirtless Chan will not leave my mind anytime soon. Im glad to see that the voting is a little more diverse this year. The guys know how to bring a sense of dynamics to a performance, telling a story rather than just bringing the same energy throughout. ATEEZ took the #1 spot in the initial rankings. Even if I dont love the song, they just know how to bring a performance to life. Which of the groups participating inKingdom: Legendary Waris your favorite? But, an excellent performance can elevate a so-so song, and vice versa. (by ATEEZ), SF9 Han takes his break alone, learning how to make coffee. The last three performances by SKZ, TBZ and iKon are my top 3 performances. Learn more about BtoB, Introduction Stage: Beautiful Pain (Choir Version), 1st Round: Missing You (Theatre version), iKON I hated how the voting was traded strictly between the groups for a few of the rounds last year. TBZ was good and are good contenders to the crown, but I for future episodes, I dont want to hear the Stealer or Reveal. Mnet's " Kingdom: Legendary War " has unveiled the full results from Round 2! And ooh, WolfgangI was not feeling the staging or the concept choice. I feel like everybodys going to be dressed in black. I hope we see him in the next comeback (Im someone whos much more interested in restorative justice than terminable punishment. I still understand why people loved it. 1. iKON. 4th place: SF9 533,458 votes Dont ever change BTOB. I believe Kpop singers can sing (if they are trained to sing properly). I hope all the groups gained new fans, This is so different from mine lol. Like, why have iKon and BTOB? Last week, "Kingdom" revealed half of the results for the preliminary battle, and at the beginning of this week's episode, the show announced that the winner was Stray Kids. Its like what Nick said about the latest Produce 101 season same thing, all over again. Unlike RTK, I hope they just air all the performances for the round in one episode but considering they didnt reveal all the ranks this week I doubt that will be the case. Part 2 Fan voting on Whosfan app (40%) + Video views (10%), Voting details for the 1st Round: I genuinely believe that Pentagon would have had a much higher chance if their was a live audience and they didnt try so hard to be cool all the time and just had fun. Ive always considered Ateez as being high level performers but man, The Boyz and Stray Kids look undeniably threatening in their performances. Ateez comes last unfortunately because their choice of remixing heavy sounds did not showcase what their song Wave actually portrays. Especially in Road to Kingdom, their performances just didnt feel special and became so predictable. Proceed at your own risk! Interestingly, I think the ATEEZ remix was great but I have the advantage of not knowing the original song. 10% video score, Kingdom: Legendary War: All Group Profiles: Filling the stage with dancers lent Wolfgang a larger-than-life presence that made it feel more like a musical than a typical K-pop performance. The episode ended with a peak at half of the fan vote that will determine winning benefits for this introductory round. Ive liked and disliked music from each of these six groups, and though Im bigger fan of some than others, I feel like each is already successful enough that theyre going to be okay no matter what happens over the course of the series. Stray Kids 1. I just think their team used up their best ideas during Road to Kingdom. Theyll all likely make comebacks within the next one to three months, and Im eager to see if they stick with their pre-Kingdom trajectory or try something new. I do think its impressive! ATEEZ consists of 8 members: Hongjoong, Seonghwa, Yunho, Yeosang, San, Mingi, Wooyoung, and Jongho. Of course, that would never happen (and for good reason!). They debuted on March 25th, 2018, under JYP Entertainment. Ive gotta say, Im a little surprised The Boyz managed to take the top spot. Other Recaps: Episode Two // Episode Three Well I'm back! I believe there needs to be better vocalists in the industry. SF9 had majestically performed to their song Now or Never rearranged into Jealous for the show. Who is the idol that perfectly portrayed the villain Prince Uiseong in Under The Queens Umbrella? I dont know much about SF9, and I felt like all their performance really told me about them was that theyre tall and handsome (not a bad thing, but compared to the other stages it felt underwhelming). Thirty-five minutes in, we finally hear those magic words: The final round starts now.. 2nd place: The Boyz 14,905.941 points Disclaimer: Im watching the full show, and not just clips on YouTube. All in all, this strong, memorable performance enhanced a song that could do with more hooks and less shouting. Not because they cant compete, but because they are no where near rookies. Yep, Boys Be Loud. I think it actually starts today. Im very thankful that iKON was part of this show, mostly thanks to their atittude which help lossen up the atmosphere ( and a bit of exposure they gained). I also think the choreography was a bit more nuanced than many of the groups, and the special effects were used really well. The event also includes those sentimental video messages that tend to pop up during the last episodes of survival series. I think thats what makes stage more interesting to watch. My guess is Peh-nee-ell. The performance stood out because of its focus on vocals, but the group is missing some of those key vocalists. For self-evaluation, each boy group will hold 3 votes, and will vote for other boy groups other than their own group. Sadly, in the self-evaluation, we got 0 votes. Luckily, this song is a jam. Part of me wonders how much time is left for the groupI really enjoyed the Why Why Why come back so I would be disappointed if Kingdom was one of their last big activities. So maybe not relieving the fatigue?? I feel like the majority of the purpose of the show is just lost on boy groups. Your dedication to this blog is just amazing. For years now, there has been a lack of diversity in genres/styles in male groups that need to be addressed. For Part 1 of this round, 33 special judges are invited to judge the performances and each will have 1 vote. The guys say they havent been on a competition show before, but Id argue that that series was as cutthroat as it gets, even though it was probably fixed from the beginning. Proceed at your own risk! And judging by this introduction, its instantly clear why this episode will be three hours long. For too long, it just felt like they were jumping around without any real storytelling. It was well-staged, with fun use of props that gave a lighter-than-expected vibe to a stage I assumed would be nothing more than puffed-up chests and general badassery. SF9, '' .. I was bored after watching just a few performances. The Kings Voice song, if Im not mistaken is actually a song for Kingdom (not a cover). Im a Music Bank guy, so I never really get to watch YG groups week to week. Gone are the illusions of an early night. Last year's Road to Kingdom was a bumpy road for sure, with one particular pothole that still has me feeling PTSD. While we wait for the final votes to be counted, the Team Mayfly vocal unit (still the best performance of the series) is joined by DK of iKON, Inseung of SF9 and Hyunjae of The Boyz to cover Boys Diary. I dont have a lot of commentary on this, except to say that these are the kind of collaborations Kingdom was made for. They come across as very authentic and comfortable in their own skin. Incorporating hip hop gentlemen was also dope which reminded fans that YGe swag aint dead yet. In this video, I'm discussing the Mnet KINGDOM LEGENDARY WAR Episode 3 Ranking Results and recapping the episode. ", "Watch: "Kingdom" Reveals Initial Rankings For Round 1 + Wows With Fiery Performances", "[ENG] [/7] 3 {NO LIMIT} 1 ! Right before a clip package that introduces them yet again. I get the sense that exposure is more important to them than ranking, but of course you want your work to be appreciated. Okay okay. thank you for the recaps and reviews, ive really appreciated it as i wouldnt have been interested in the show if it werent for your reviews (and btob and ikon). Wolfgang (SKZ): This is now their 3rd time going wolf. Where did this exclamation originate? But they were both playing to some of their strengths so I understand their directions. 5. iKON It felt like a knockoff and less impactful version of the Mayfly Wolf stage. 3rd place: Ateez 6,101.043 points I just didnt really connect with wolfgang. Who will be THE KING? ATEEZ , BTOB , iKON , SF9 , Stray Kids, and THE BOYZ are currently appearing on the show. But, its very early and so much can change as the other rounds unfold. For the second half . At least it was cool in the end. The Real (Ateez): Love that they were having fun and for once, I really felt the hype through the screen and the climax was great. SF9 ?? This is part cooking show, part eating show, and allows their fun interplay to flourish. I hope Kingdom doesnt fall into this trap, but the meet-greet performances were disappointing. Beyond that I just want to say I feel sorry for you, Nick, forcing yourself to watch this whole thing live as it airs. Unsurprisingly, BTOB are seasoned enough to simply turn the whole thing into a joke. And now because their is no audience, we rely on stuns, horrible lip-syncing, and visuals to get through it. All the pre-recorded stuff really took the momentum out of the performance, unfortunately. Why couldnt they have performed Take Me Home instead?!? I wonder if it would be better to pre-record the finale? You need to sign in so you can join the quiz. The six groups will compete against each other and release music on streaming sites simultaneously. Theyre going to be a hard group to beat. They got to try new things and cant rely too much on stunts. Despite their relative youth, I think theyre clear contenders for the crown. They are all amazing performers in their own right and I wish they go with their strengths and have fun instead of trying hard to be something they are not. Its super awkward, with the camera weaving around as the guys stare intensely into space. i have my feelings about this, but mostly im just happy because i enjoyed the interactions and seungmins shine time throughout kingdoms run (plus skz won and theyre one of my favourite groups ever so) but like you said i really am excited to see where theyll go from here (and on a different note, i cant wait for hyunjin to return because as much as I enjoyed the amount of center time felix and minho finally got in his absence, he is a very significant part of this group so one can only hope that they keep up giving all the members of their dance line shine time as well as their vocalists), Also when they talked about changmins marriage??!!! And now, the prospect of staying Up All Night to chroniclethis three hour swagger-a-thon will see my usual grasp of the English language devolve into incomprehensible eieios and illa illas. Expressively. (On a related note, my dorky friends from RTK ended up having the last laugh, so that PTSD pales in comparison to my pride as a fan.). Hes funny even when hes not on screen, as evidenced by his letter. If there was an audience, they could have hyped up the crowd and really did their things, but they chose to just dance which happens to be their weakest area. 3. I liked their very first stage the most and then the Deadpool stage comes second for me. Some members are better at maintaining this act than others, and of course Im instantly drawn to the ones who look most uncomfortable. The performances were aired via live stream on February 23, 2021, through Mnet's YouTube channel. IDRC if mindless knetz dont have the taste to like iKON, thats their loss not ours.. But, the lack of strong staging bumps this down a notch. At some points falling backwards isnt that interesting anymore and neither is this Im so cool grrr *stomp* *stomp*.
